KEN DEMING – HEAD COACH
Originally from Bellevue, OH, Ken is entering his sixth season with the Blue Hens where he has lead them to National Appearances each year. He served six years in the United States Marine Corp, is a Desert Storm Veteran and attended IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) where he played for the Crimson Hawks ACHA hockey team. Ken continues to be involved in the Delaware hockey community to include being a USA Hockey Certified Level 3 referee and Level 4 coach . When he is not on ice, Ken works as a National Account Manager for Singer Equipment, one of the largest equipment dealer in the United States. Ken resides in Smyrna, Delaware.
Originally from Montvale, NJ and a University of Delaware graduate, Al has 10 years of experience coaching and supporting local Delaware hockey organizations. He is a USA Hockey Certified Level 4 coach and has served as a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the last 4 years with the Jr. Blue Hens. Prior to this, he helped build the Wilmington Nighthawks Youth Hockey organization at the Skating Club of Wilmington, serving as Head Coach, Assistant Coach, President and Treasurer during his 6 year tenure. Al is also a board member for the Open Net Foundation, which has brought the local hockey community together to support children with health issues. When he is not coaching or playing hockey, Al is a Managing Director for Chesapeake Utilities in Dover. Al and his family reside in Hockessin, DE.
Katie Smith – Assistant Coach
Katie is a 2015 graduate of the University of Delaware and former player of the women’s ice hockey team. She is a USA Hockey certified Level 4 coach. From 2013-2016 Katie was an assistant coach for the Quakers Girls’ Ice Hockey Program with the U16 and U19 teams. She resides in Newtown Square, PA.
