Vince Falkowski – Head Coach, ACHA DII Team vince.falkowski@udelhockey.com

Vince Falkowski enters his 7th season as Head Coach of the University of Delaware ACHA Division 2 Men’s Ice Hockey Team.

Prior to joining the University coaching staff, he spent two seasons as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Salesianum High School in Wilmington, Delaware. For many years, Vince also served the University of Delaware community as both a coach and mentor for the University of Delaware’s Learn to Play and In-House youth hockey programs. He also continues to coach for the Junior Blue Hens organization as he has done for the past 6 years.

Coach Falkowski began playing ice hockey in 1980 for the Wilmington Wheels organization and played up through the Junior level in Massachusetts. He was a member of the University of Delaware Division 1 Ice Hockey Team from 1997 to 1999 as a Defenseman and continues to actively play ice hockey today. Vince graduated from the University of Delaware in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the past 18 years. He lives in Newark, Delaware with his wife Jen, their two sons, and daughter.

Sam Walus – Assistant Coach

Sam Walus returns for his 3rd season behind the bench. Coach Walus played right wing for four seasons for the Blue Hens D2 team. He is a 2015 graduate with a major in Behavioral Health and a minor in Public Health.  He resides in Wilmington, DE and works for CSC as a business license account manager.


Derek DiDonato – Assistant Coach

Coach DiDonato returns after a year hiatus. He played center for the Blue Hens 2011-13 and was behind the bench for the 2013-16 seasons. He graduated from UD in 2013 with a degree in Criminal Justice and obtained his MBA in finance in 2017 from Goldey Beacom College. He is currently employed by JP Morgan Chase as an AML Compliance Associate.


Bob Stroik – Site Admin, stroik@udelhockey.com

Bob Stroik stepped down from Assistant Coach (2011-2017) role to move solely behind the scene for 2017-18 to manage the website for University of Delaware Hockey.  A Newark native, he played several years of youth hockey for the predecessor to the Junior Blue Hens organization, before moving on to play Junior hockey where he and Coach Falkowski were teammates.  Bob was a member of the University of Delaware Division 1 Ice Hockey Team from 1993 to 1997 as a Forward, where he and Coach Falkowski re-united again for the 1996 – 1997 season.

Bob graduated from the University of Delaware in 1998 with a major in Geophysics and a minor in Civil Engineering. He works at Aberdeen Proving Ground for the Army Public Health Center in the Environmental Health Sciences and Engineering Directorate.  Bob lives in Elkton, Maryland with his wife, Noelle, his son, and daughter.


Bill Williams – Public Address (PA) Announcer & Official Scorer

Bill starts his fourth year as the PA Announcer for the UD Fighting Blue Hens DI Ice Hockey team. Having been recently accepted into the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers (NASPAA,) Bill is looking forward to being the arena voice for the DII Blue Hens. Bill is no stranger to UD Ice Hockey. He attended his first game in 1984 and has miss very, very few home games in 30+ years. On any given weekend night, he could usually be heard banging his mallet as a member of the Red Line Rowdies and attends many road games to support the Hens. Bill graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1982 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration. He returned to school and graduated in 1998 from Wilmington University with a Masters of Elementary Education Degree. Bill resides in the Newark, Delaware area.


James Witherite – Anthem Singer, Internet Broadcasts via San Gabriel Media

James Witherite joins the Blue Hens after eleven years of broadcasting Standardbred and Thoroughbred horse racing in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.  Witherite, a Delaware transplant by way of Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University (BMus ’07), will call 19 of the Division 2 Hens’ games and another seven Division 3 events this year, streaming live through his SGM Sport (sangabrielmedia.com/sport.html).

Witherite makes his home in Dover with his wife Lauren, who teaches biology; daughter Sara; and cat Mingus.  Off the air, he is an accomplished composer, organist, and (on occasion) racetrack bugler.
